    "I didn’t."
    — Galen Sunsword on why he chose Gwyneth to become the next Grand Paladin.

Captain Galen Sunsword is a Noble Born Elf Paladin played by Rob as an NPC in Buckeroos, The Fall of Dundinborough, and Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator. He is the youngest son of Virgo Sunsword, having been born shortly before the Birth of Magic just after his twin sister Gwyneth Sunsword. He was married, but his wife died.

    Characteristics

    Appearance

Galen is an elf with long hair and long, curly eyebrows. He wears a large winter coat that has a fur trim that connects to a crest. Over his coat, he wears a chest plate, shoulder pads, and faulds.

    Personality

In his younger years, he shows a more careless, wilder side of his personality. After getting inebriated with his fellow soldiers, Galen less resembles the stern, disciplined soldier he is later in life, but instead acts more like a college frat boy.

Until recently, Galen was just a soldier for the Sunswords who fights for justice. There was nothing he cared more about than justice and also showed great respect for people who prove their worth to him. He was also a devout, giving full praise to the divines.

After receiving a Sin of the Unforgotten, Galen seems to be more resentful. He knows of the Old Gods yet it is unknown whether he likes them (as Caprikel saved him) or hates them (as Taey doomed his sister).

    Relationships

Galen respects Jax's long line of work and begs that he reconsiders his retirement and join the Sunsword Military.

Galen recognizes Lann as the Legendary Sharp Swordsman and respects his strength and skills as a swordsman and asks that he join the Sunsword Military.

Although Galen doesn't agree with his disbelief of the gods, he still respects his passion for justice and asks that he join the Sunsword Military.

Galen respects his skills as a Deputy for hire and also shares his sorrows of his wife's death for his wife was also killed and asks that he join the Sunsword Military.

Virgo is Galen's father who trained him in many skills of combat for many years.

Gwyneth is Galen's older twin sister. They seemed to be rather close until he gave up his birthright of having being The Grand Paladin and so the right went to his sister, she seems to now hate him for being such a coward as seen in a letter shown at the end of Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator.

They were both a part of Virgo's squad during The Fall of Dundinborough, they participated in the tournament together and got drunk off E.X.X.X.P. Ale together.

Though Galen is not a big fan of Barringster's, he did bring him back to life at the end of Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator.

Until Folshe betrayed the team in Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator, Galen seemed to like her the best of all the lawyers though that is not a very high bar.

Galen had no clue who Grungle was nor did he ever want him tagging along on the mission in Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator.

Galen does not like the lawyer as he was always shutting down and limiting Galen.

Charley was the only member of Galen's investigative team in Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator who Galen liked as he actually had some sort of qualifications to be on the mission as he is a vigilante.

Quintara and Galen were lovers until Galen broke it off via a messenger in Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator. However, she does not think they are over yet.

Sintour is one of Galen's contacts in the underground though they are both not big fans of each other.

Though originally against the Pot Puppy, Galen grew to like him.

Galen has had previous affiliation with the Pot Puppy tamer, yet is unknown of what kind that is. They seemed friendly enough when seeing each other again in Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator.

    History

    Background

Galen is the youngest son of Virgo Sunsword. Galen has trained and served under his father for most of his adult life and has a well diverse set of fighting styles. Galen and Gwyneth Sunsword are twins who were born very shortly before the Birth of Magic. [1]

Galen and his team of 3 lawyers (Folshe Drocha, Xenthrill Barringster, and Zeddicus Daniels) a vigilante (Charley Kinson), a random man who has walked of the street (Grungle Numpston, and a crime dog team up at the request of Quintara Lotus to investigate the curious murder if Marrel Limboratti. After trying to learn about the murder by visiting Sintour Sallazhar and a casino, in the final act, one of the lawyers Folshe Drocha, turns on the rest of the team revealing a level two mana bomb. Just as it was about to explode the old God Caprikel whispered the combination in Galen's ear and he managed to stop the bomb from exploding. It was revealed the bomb was a fake and the whole thing was supposed to be a fun game for Galen made up by Quintara. Galen then uses Charley's [2] spell scroll to revive Xenthrill Barringster.

    Fate

Galen was last seen hating the old Gods who forced his sister to "die" in order to merge with previous Grand Paladins after she left him a letter describing her hate for him in Galen Sunsword: Private Investigator

    Trivia

    • If the Murder Bros had won the fight in Buckeroos, Galen would have been killed by Chimera.
    • It is insinuated by Gwyneth that Galen knew about what the ritual to become The Grand Paladin entails and that is the reason he abdicated the birthright despite being trained to take up the mantle.
