Whelplings are spawns of the Dragon Aspect Vlaurunga, unintelligent infantile dragons that cannot cast magic other than the raw natural fire they breathe. They are not considered Divine Beings as in order to be Divine they must have a Sigil of Flame imprinted on their chest by Vlaurunga.

While Whelplings can vary in both size and strength, what separates them from Dragons is their intelligence. Younger Whelplings cannot communicate with others and most cannot use magic other than the raw natural fire they breathe. Although they are born from eggs laid by Vlaurunga herself, they do not become Divine unless a Sigil of Flame is imprinted on their chests by the great Dragon Aspect herself. Only the chosen few from her brood are selected to become part of her convocation and it is only in it that these Dragons are finally given names.
