Coober is a recurring character in Unforgotten Realms Live campaigns. Often appearing in many different places and filling the niche of "shifty NPC character", Coober's goals may differ from the interests of the party.

Biography

Coober is a powerful Wizard whose skill with magic is only matched by his skills in cunning and misdirection. An NPC character originally from the Dank Dungeons and Dragons campaign, Coober made his first official URealms Live appearance in The Nuren Campaign with claims from the development team that they aim to make him the "Where's Waldo?" of UR Live [1], with the role of being "Technically always helpful, technically always not helpful."

History

Coober's first canonical appearance occurred in The Nuren Campaign, where he met the Dwarven Siblings in Bopen's lair. He claimed to be there on Nisovin's orders and also a member of the George Clan, however it was obvious that he was not. Regardless, Coober offered them various magical items in return for Blinky enhancing his staff. The group debated and bickered long enough to expend Coober's patience causing him to teleport out of the dungeon without giving them the items.

Please note that whether or not this information is canon is liable to change.

Coober decided to hide himself amongst a group of Kobold prisoners under the disguise as Kobold Wizard named "Rebooc". To keep his disguise up Coober didn't say anything but the word "Kobold" the entirety of the trip. The prisoners were loaded into a cart and was sent to the Silver Mine Mountains. That is, until a Porc prisoner mounted an escape by having several other Porcs attack the cart. "Rebooc" and the other Kobold prisoners decided to help their captures and defeat the porcs. After the battle, the captain of the captures, Gwyneth Sunsword, decided to free their prisoners for their help. "Rebooc" decided to stay and enter the prison instead for unknown reasons.

Non-Canon

Coober's first appearance in Dank Dungeons and Dragons. He saved the party of adventurers from a group of multiplying bats after striking a deal with Deadbones. The deal was that the party would become Coober's slave, everyone was upset at Deadbones and started to plot to kill Coober. Deadbones alerted Coober that his friends are plotting to kill him, in response he turns everyone into frogs except Deadbones who disguises as a frog.

Trivia

  • Rob initially wanted Coober to be a character that would appear in every campaign, however that concept appeared to be shelved, as Coober has only appeared in the Nuren Campaign, though it is to be noted he has now technically appeared in the Sunswords Campaign.
  • Coober was going to give the Dwarven Siblings cursed items if they had successfully traded with him.
  • It is confirmed by Rob that Coober was Rebooc in the Sunswords Campaign
  • When Gwenyth Sunsword was thinking of a name for her child she, at first wanted to name him Coober, but quickly dismissed the idea
