Main Page Format

I'm thinking we adopt a split style on the main page. Campaigns take a prominent place on the right side with the last campaign prominently featured. If we could imbed Rob's twitter feed there that'd be awesome too. The left side would be occupied by more general headings; Classes, Races, Cards, Treasures, Items and Characters. This means we effectively split the page into two focuses: those looking to read about the campaigns and those looking to read about the game as a whole. I think that might work quite well. Yeah was thinking the same to be honest. Was planning on adding youtube feeds of just URLive content and having community links too. The whole list layout at the moment is just a placeholder so we can navigate around whilst getting things set up. Plornt (talk) 15:22, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
That sounds like an awesome idea :D But I have no idea how to do any of it ;-; CoconutM1lk (talk) 15:25, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
Saw your revision note about the colour of the links. I can put some CSS in the Common.css file so the links color can be changed. What colours do you want? Plornt (talk) 21:40, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
Why does the link to the board look red even if there is a page for it? CoconutM1lk (talk) 10:54, 5 June 2015 (EDT)
I just forced the page to refresh. If you are still seeing it, try Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R to force the entire page to reload assets. Tdis8629 (talk) 11:56, 5 June 2015 (EDT)

First major style pass

After a few hours of staring at table code I've finally managed to get the first layout of the main page going. Please leave feedback here, including comments on the colour, style, and content of each section. I will be prettying up the rest of the page with a header box soon! Chronohawk (talk) 13:53, 3 June 2015 (EDT)

It looks amazing! I would like the wiki to more or less change the look to fit the theme of URL. But as it stands now, its very pleasing to look at. Amazing Chrono! --IronClark (talk) 14:01, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
Awesome work! Looks great. And yeah IronClark trying to do that now, just taking a while to do. Plornt (talk) 15:06, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
Fantastic! I could never do that :P but the wiki is really coming along :D CoconutM1lk (talk) 15:38, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
Wow, it looks great, love the having the featured content. I also can't wait to see the new look for the wiki.--Laserboy99 (talk) 15:35, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
Looks nice, but you have a tailing |}|}|} at the end of Helping Out Tdis8629 (talk) 17:00, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
I'm a fan of it. I'm not familiar with the more code heavy side of the professional wikis. I'd like to know what font the headings on the left navigation area is.--5ilver42 (talk) 23:18, 3 June 2015 (EDT)
Left navigation area is part of the overall site theme. The font is Agincourt™ W01 which seems to be the "official urealms font". Bloody costs a lot though, £39 per different type of usage. Plornt (talk) 03:11, 4 June 2015 (EDT)
I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but when viewing the history of a page, since the selected revisions have a white background, and the text with this style is white, the text from the selected revision is impossible to read--Razorhead (talk) 03:50, 5 June 2015 (EDT)
Fixed. Can people please put the theme style issues in the Admin_ToDo page and the front page actual wiki page styling here. Thanks Plornt (talk) 04:02, 5 June 2015 (EDT)

Can we add "Characters" to the Sidebar under "Player" or "Campaigns" in the "Realms" section? --Petertwnsnd (talk) 23:29, 3 June 2015 (EDT)

Colour Suggestions

With the changes to the overall style of the wiki, the main page doesn't look nearly as nice as I'd like it to. As a result we'll need to change the colour scheme of both main page boxes to something more suitable. Any suggestions? Chronohawk (talk) 14:28, 13 June 2015 (EDT)

To be honest as you can see with the site design itself I am not too good at this sort of design haha, so cant really provide any suggestions ~~ Plornt[Admin] (Ask an Administrator) 14:52, 13 June 2015 (EDT)

Just for clarity's sake

This wiki is exclusively for Unforgotten Realms Live content, and not the original video series, right? LearningTimebuster (talk) 14:32, 13 June 2015 (EDT)

Yeah unless there happens to be crossover and then we can fill in the blanks as we go. Don't want the wiki to get too confusing with conflicting information. Plornt (talk) 14:33, 13 June 2015 (EDT)
Alright, figured. Is a page for the video series in order, though, because it's a major part of URL's (pre)history? LearningTimebuster (talk) 14:35, 13 June 2015 (EDT)
We dont have a page for it but feel free to add one and we can link it somewhere on the main page or something as an aside. Make sure not to edit any of the current pages with lore from the series and also if you do create link offs to new pages, please prefix the page names with "Web Series" so we dont get naming conflicts if Rob decides to reuse characters. Plornt (talk) 14:40, 13 June 2015 (EDT)

Actually, I wanted to ask, since it has been confirmed (so far) that Coe's Quest will be in the same universe, would that be included here? Of course when it airs, making pages now would be extremely early.--Clark (Chitter Chat) 14:37, 13 June 2015 (EDT)

As its been confirmed in the same universe then yes, unless otherwise stated by Rob etc that they dont want the two mixed on the wiki for whatever reason Plornt (talk) 14:40, 13 June 2015 (EDT)

Other

  • Just a reminder to myself: the quote should be "Knock Knock! Who's there? Combat has started"
    • Already did it. Also made a bunch of changes to the front-page bit. Added a Campaigns section, which can be amended as needed. My reasoning is that it is easier to find relevant information if it is easily linked. Perhaps, if-when multiple seasons come around, that section should be expandable so as to not fully clutter the front page. So, a [Season 1] tab that is expandable to show the campaigns that have taken place or something like that. --73.195.239.166 10:53, 14 June 2015 (EDT) (gloomyMoron on Reddit)

Propagating changes to Templates

Currently, if you change a template (to correct a typo), the changes will not propagate to pages that use that template unless you do an Edit>Save (even if no information has been changed). Is it simply a cache issue or is this a bug?--73.195.239.166 18:56, 14 June 2015 (EDT)

The caching implementation doesn't purge the cache for the pages that use a template, I may go and see if there is a fix or I will fix it myself. In the meantime you can purge a page manually by putting ?action=purge on the end of a page URL. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 19:51, 14 June 2015 (EDT)
