Gemling

Gemlings were first seen in the Roamin's Band of Thieves campaign. They have 1 stamina and explode on death.

History

The first appearance of Gemlings was in the Roamin's Band of Thieves campaign. They resided in a cave near a band of Kobolds. The Thieves Guild confronted the Kobolds and was aided in battle with some natural Gemlings. After the battle was concluded with the Thieves as the victors, they inspected the cave to see a large floating crystal.

This large floating crystal would been ticked by the Dwarf Kobold Number 4 and caused it to reveal itself as a Gemlord. This would result in another lengthy battle, with the victor being the Thieves once again shattering the Gemlord.

Characteristics

Gemlings are weak crystallic creatures that slightly hover above the ground and reside in caves. They are normally passive in nature, simply floating in caves undisturbed. They can be hostile under certain events, such as the appearance of a Gemlord or in the presence of Kobolds. Somehow they are able to be forced into a Crystal Catalyst in sets of ten. If a Gemlord is not present, and a person uses the Crystal Catalyst, then the Gemlings will be aligned with the user.

Kobolds are said to eat Gemlings.

Gemlords are much larger variants of the generic Gemlings, appearing roughly about four times the size of a Dwarf. Unlike their smaller counterparts, Gemlords are immediately hostile, attacking whoever and whatever is near them. If they are enraged even more they can generate large fleshy arms to combat with.

They are shown to have a hibernation state of a unknown length of time and the ability to self reproduce, creating several Gemlings at a time.

Powers and Abilities

Gemling Physiology:

  • Crystallize Body: The Gemlings are created out of sentient crystals. These crystals are known to be a food source for the Kobold race.
    • Levitation: Gemlings can keep themselves ascended in the air without ever touching the ground.
  • Suicidal Attack: Gemlings are extremely vulnerable creatures. If they come to any harm once so ever, then they will perish. This would mean that any attack they would proceed to do, would result in eventual death.
    • Explosion Inducement: Due to their summoned nature, once Gemlings die, they do so in a contained explosion fashion.
  • Monarchy Inducement: When the enormous Gemlord subspecies are present among the Gemling race, they immediately rule the species. Any newly created Gemlings are also under the command of the Gemlord.
    • Body Modification: The Gemlord subspecies can independently grow two muscular arms for combat.
      • Heavy Strikes: When a Gemlord has their arms, they can use momentum to enhance their own physical strength to attack targets.
    • Light Beam Emission: Gemlords can fire out a focused and concentrated beam of photons towards a target.
      • Light Absorption: Gemlords can absorb the photo rays that they fire as they reflect back towards them.
    • Crystal Generation: The Gemlord subspecies has the ability to generate crystalline structures from nothing. The Gemlord uses these inanimate crystals as a way to reflect their light beams.
    • Inorganic Replication: Gemlords can generate other Gemlings from their own body. This is a form of self-reproduction, effectively generating more members of their race.
    • Suspended Animation: Gemlords can go into a state of hibernation that appears like a giant floating crystal. Upon touching the Gemlord in this state, they will awaken. It is unknown how long they can retain this state.
