Sun Hounds were first introduced in the Roamin's Band of Thieves campaign.
Characteristics
Sun Hounds appear to be extraordinary large, white wolves under the command of Spellblade Elves. They are extremely playful, opting to play with their prey by flinging them across the room and chasing after them. Effectively playing fetch with himself.
Sun Hounds also have the ability to create explosive constructs of solar energy. These Sun Tiles, as they are called, will sap the life-force energy of anyone standing on them to the point of collapse. The Sun Tiles can erupt in an explosion if they are met in contact with the Elven Sun Bolts.
Fenris
Fenris first appeared asleep next to Gwyneth's home during Squinks' attempt to sneak through the village. He later appeared during the final battle against Yumi's thieves and Gwyneth Sunsword's Sun Cleric Elves.
Fenris ran into the building and was immediately frozen by Yumi's Ray of Frost spell. Gracias then proceed to unfreeze the wolf with his newly built Ring of Fire. Now free for movement, Fenris grabs K-4 and proceeds to toss him around the room, playing fetch.
When the battle concluded, the thieves ran for their lives, Fenris stayed in the building.
Powers and Abilities
Solar Canine Physiology:
- Unnatural Size: Sun Hounds are many times larger than most canines, being large enough to fit a Hill Dwarf in its mouth.
- Enhanced Strength: Due to the Hounds unnatural size, they have an increased strength as well, being able to toss dwarves and gnomes alike with little effort.
- Enhanced Bite: With the much larger mouth, the Sun Hounds have an increase in their jaw strength, making their bite to be their most dangerous weapon.
- Sharp Teeth: Due to the carnivore nature of the Sun Hounds they have extremely sharp canines used to tear meat from bone.
- Fur Generation: Like all canines, Sun Hounds are covered in a thick coat of fur.
- Solar Constructs: Sun Hounds can create small explosives from the pads of their feet. These explosives remain inactive unless they are disturbed or otherwise enraged.
- Energy Drain: Even when the solar panels are inactive, if a being not immune to its effects stands on it for too long, they will have their energy drained. The being will then collapse unconscious.
- Explosion Inducement: If the solar panels are disturbed, most likely by a Sun Bolt, they will proceed to detonate. These explosions are said to be extremely painful.
- Anger Inducement: By enraging the solar panels, they upgrade to exist permanently. This allows them to continuously survive the explosions and be immediately read to detonate again.
