Templates

Good job on the templates they look amazing :) --Red Rath (talk) 20:17, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! Are there any others that you think I should make? I'm trying to make sure I make all the ones we'll need for a while. --Petertwnsnd (talk) 20:20, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I actually had a thought. A lot of TV show wikis have episode templates, could be have one for the campaigns? With links to the previous and next and such? Sorry if this is a lot of asking, but your templates are marvelous Pete!--IronClark (talk) 23:30, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I'll work on it. It'll be a bit different from the other ones so it might take a while. --Petertwnsnd (talk) 23:34, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Understandable, I appreciate you giving it the time of your day!--IronClark (talk) 23:39, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Think you can whip up a "Organization" template? I'm working on making the Crew of the Bocoe a separate page and thought a template might be in order ala Marvel/DC wiki.--Clark (Chitter Chat) 03:30, 18 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yeah. I just made Template:Groupbox for us to use. It's pretty bare bones but I can't think of anything else to add. I'm gonna look at some other examples and probably add onto it throughout the day. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 18:50, 18 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Uploaded files

Hey, when you're uploading files, could you please upload images in png format? This is as easy as opening the image in paint or paint.net or photoshop or any other image program, and just saving it as png. Although the image quality will not get better, when the wiki scales the images down, compression artefacts will appear, which does not happen with png. --Razorhead (talk) 08:07, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

I can, I just have a ton of images I downloaded in jpg format and It'll take me a while to convert them all. --Petertwnsnd (talk) 14:47, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to bother you again, but when you're uploading files, could you please refrain from uploading duplicate files? For example you uploaded goblin-1.png when there was already a Gobling.png with a worse image that you could've replaced. It's already fixed now since Rob gave us a new image to use, but please keep it in mind for later! --Razorhead (talk) 11:11, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I was debating with myself whether or not to replace the old file, however the old file was a goblin without a shirt and since it wasn't the exact same I wasn't sure if people might still want to use the shirtless version so I uploaded the new version by itself just to be safe. Also where did you find the new images? They weren't added to the post on Reddit or to the imgur account. I looked everywhere and when I couldn't find them I went and added the ones I uploaded last night. --Petertwnsnd (talk) 17:10, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Rob visited the wiki 10 hours ago. He left a message on Admin ToDo with a request to change the names of the Characters in the Nuren Campaign, which we already did. We also left a link to a rar file with all the images I uploaded. Plornt created an archive on that page however, so the only way to view the message is to click the 'Expand' button on the request header. The button is over on the right. Also I answered your other question on my talk page. --Razorhead (talk) 18:04, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Saw that you requested a transparent background so I tried to get rid of it. Let me know if you need anything else. Pillowkeeper (talk) 22:03, 19 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Races Page

Hey, just wanted to ask why you deleted the Race cards in the Template from the race page? You provided no explanation in the edit comment or on the talk page. --Razorhead (talk) 07:52, 6 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I left an explanation on the Classes talk page because they're similar reasons and forgot I didn't do one on Races as well. Basically showing the cards didn't actually add any new information, but it did take up a ton of room on the page and prevented us from adding information about races we don't have cards for. If we want to display those cards it makes more sense to do it on the actual page for the each race instead of the main page listing all the races together. --Petertwnsnd (talk) 15:02, 6 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Character Portraits

RadioactiveK makes really fitting versions of every week's cast, and I find that the current portraits of the main cast don't represent the characters very well (because they're just the same characters with different hats, mostly). Could these versions be used instead? --Borrops (talk) 13:15, 13 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

RadioactiveK's Twitter - https://twitter.com/RadioactiveK

While I too really enjoy RadioactiveK's work,it's still fan art. I know people think it looks better, and I agree it looks amazing, but it's important that as an information source we use official artwork and show how the characters were actually represented in campaign apposed to an fan artist's rendition. I recently added Galleries t all character and actor pages and there's already ones for each campaign. We specifically put them there so fans can display prominent pieces of fan art. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. --Petertwnsnd (talk) 15:45, 13 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I think, not a hundred percent sure, maybe 65%, but I think Rob has contacted Kara for the official portraits of the characters. She mentioned in a reddit post I believe that Rob has asked her to do it. However, I do agree with Peter in that we should wait until the website to come with the official portraits (but I really hope we get to use Kara's art. Such inspiration for my own desires to be a character designer) --Clark (Chitter Chat) 17:32, 13 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
My problem with them in this specific capacity is, say you don't know who a character like Philihipe is and you went to his page and the picture we used was Nick's great picture: Philhipe.png. While a fantastic piece of art it's not what he actually looked like in the campaign and not as helpful as the much simpler Philhipe_Puppet.png which is what he actually looked like. If this was simply a fan site I'd be fine with using the best looking picture, however since this is an information database and digital encyclopedia we should use theimages the most accurately represent what they actually look like in the campaign, even if they're not they're not the prettiest.--Petertwnsnd (talk) 22:38, 13 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I agree with this unless Rob has stated they are the "official" looks of the characters and we have gotten permission to use the art from the creator themselves. Perhaps as a compromise we could add a "fan art" section on the pages? Of course do not go uploading content that doesn't belong to us though and give credit to the artists. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 08:22, 14 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I added a gallery to each character, actor, and campaign page to showcase artwork from the community for that very purpose. Do we have an official rule set for the wiki yet? We already have some established rules agreed upon by the moderators, however they're scattered around on various Talk pages. Also at the moment there doesn't seem to be a good way for all the moderators to talk to each other other than our respective talk pages and maybe the Admin To Do or Main page. Could we create a Moderator talk and Official rule page so we can be very clear for each other or is there already something like that that I'm not aware of? --Petertwnsnd (talk) 02:43, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
To be honest there isnt an official rule set, wiki has grown a lot so yeah it seems like we need some sort of rule set going. I had a chat going the other day but it didnt work correctly. All the forum style mediawiki extensions dont seem to work correctly unfortunately too and the ones which actually look good are no longer maintained. But yeah we can create a Rules page, I cant remember all of the rules we've set out so far in the comment sections (goes to show we need this heh) but will try to add the ones I can. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 04:23, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Is there a way to "Protect" pages so only moderators can edit them? If not the Rule page is going to need to be patrolled pretty regularly. --Petertwnsnd (Ask a Moderator) 04:26, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I don't think you have permission to protect pages/edit protected pages however will have to look at it in the morning as I need to check if that gives you access to editing Widget pages (which in turn will end up giving you full access to the database/server which I can't allow). Feel free to edit the rules page and also create a moderator talk page whilst you wait for me to set something proper up. ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 04:42, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I've created Wiki Rules and Moderator Talk. I'll inform the other mods of them on their talk pages now. --Petertwnsnd (Ask a Moderator) 04:57, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Moderator

Hey, you're also a moderator now. Congrats. I was wondering why you were still a regular user, since you're pretty active. I'm glad though, this means I won't have to patrol all of your edits now! ;) --Razorhead (talk) 16:50, 13 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks man! I'm really excited to continue helping the best I can! --Petertwnsnd (talk) 22:14, 13 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Heh was gunna add them for a while just didn't think we needed too many moderators, also wanted to ensure the current ones didn't go rogue! ~~ Plornt (Ask an Administrator) 04:24, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Really? You expected me to go rogue? I'm almost insulted! (grumble grumble foiling my plans...) --Razorhead (talk) 13:24, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

RadioactiveK image

Hey Peter, when uploading the character portraits RadioactiveK made, don't use the file from twitter! She uploads that file in a higher resolution on the Buffalo Wizards subreddit, so use that image please. Pillowkeeper already made individual versions from the file you uploaded (in low resolution), so I had to remake them from the higher res file. --Razorhead (Leave me a note) 15:56, 20 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mod Talk

Posting this here because I can't post on mod page. Yeah I agree with what you said about the thumbnails for characters. It is okay with the player pictures, but not totally sure with the multiple types of artwork. For some reason the right side of the box is not being drawn, might be something wrong with the CSS stylesheet. Pillowkeeper (Message Me) 03:15, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your feedback, it is always appreciated! I have added your comment to the page. --Petertwnsnd (Message a Mod) 03:24, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
