Duke has a very fancy gentlemanly handlebar mustache. In Den Of Devils, Duke has grown a goatee as well as his handlebar mustache.

His crew consists of 2 [[Gnomes]], 3 [[Dwarves]] and one unknown: Short Stuff, Roundhouse, Biff, Tiny, [[List_of_Minor_Characters#Big 'un|Big 'un]] and one unnamed. It is shown that he cares for his crew more than he shows when he has to let Buttercup go that he starts to get sad because Big 'un had named him. This is also shown when [[Michael Langstrom]] goes to kill [[Lunk]] and Duke Daring quickly recovers, jumps over to the rock, and shouts "DUKE DARING!" as he kicks Michael into the lava, finishing it off by saying: "Stay away from my Lunk!" showing affection for him in a heroic way.

Buttercup was first found and named by Big'un, but almost nothing is known about their history together before she joins Duke Daring in Zelfatar.

Buttercup is first seen in the dragon lair within Zelfatar, with Duke Daring riding on her before the first encounter.

During the battle against the Whelpling, Buttercup obeys Duke Daring's orders without question. In the beginning, she roars to prevent the whelpling from attacking a teammate, and she also attempts to disable it when Duke Daring is launched to a rock on the lava lake. She nearly sacrifices herself to protect the team from multiple dragon breath attacks, and her efforts kept many of the mercenaries' lives from being at risk.

=====Fate=====
Buttercup is unable to cross the lava lake, even with the help of [[Michael Langstrom]]'s slime bridge. Sadly, Duke Daring has no choice but to leave her fate in the hands of SK Malone's Mercenaries, who probably sold her for money instead of setting her free.

Duke Daring, being a master explorer, has ventured out on many different expeditions. He has:

==History==
===Background===
Duke Daring knew [[Jameson Blant]] as they were both members of [[Guild of Explorers (Group)|the Guild of Explorers]]. Duke Daring however, despises Jameson because when the two of them first joined the guild, Duke asked a fellow guild member disguised as Jameson for a cup of sugar, who then spat in Duke's face. Duke believed this person to be the real Jameson, and has since hated him. Duke sometime before the events of [[Guild of Explorers]], conquered the infamous [[Zarlin Catacombs]]. However, it is unknown if he conquered it with his group of cronies or not.

===[[Guild of Explorers]]===
As Duke Daring and his crew were leaving the city to find the Scrolls of the Sandbold, they came across Jameson Blant and his team of mercenaries. After some short introductions between the two, Jameson showed some of the 'clues' he had found to Duke, but accidentally tripped whilst holding a [[Magic Carpet]], falling on top of Duke, with the carpet swallowing him whole. Duke was found to have been in a bubble in the "carpet of holding" dimension once [[Slap]] also fell in. Once [[Patrick Cake]] and Jameson showed up inside the dimension as well, Patrick immediately teleported from his own bubble into Duke's and began to pummel him with magic.

===Fate===
After saving [[Lunk]] and getting to the top of the cliff edge, he attempts to save his compatriot, but to no avail. While Nisovin attempts to save everyone by Wormholing, Duke is tossed into the portal along with Denzik, Karl, and one of the other Porcs, thereby closing his adventure in the Den of Devils.

==Trivia==
* Duke Daring claims to have conquered the [[Zarlin Catacombs]]. However, it is unknown if this is true.
* Duke never went on his adventure to find the Ancient Scrolls of the Sandbold, but had them appear in his hand as his Legendary Item.
** While this item was a consumable that Deadbones used to save Nisovin, Rob revealed that they were never a one time use, but only kept it a secret that they reappeared after they went through the portal, and as Deadbones says: makes Duke Daring the happiest man in the world.
* Duke Daring is the first player character to have more than one companion.

Granger is quite an eclectic dwarf with a number of odd tendencies. Loyal to Virgo and his squadron, Nathaniel faces some odd relationship drama on the count of Virgo having once taken his wife from him and keeping her in his home. Virgo apparently killed Cecilia in this time, but upon Cecilia's resurrection both Cecilia and Virgo stated that nothing happened between the two, which Nathaniel believed without question, indicating that Granger is an especially trustful Dwelf. Granger is quite insistent in his beliefs, always insisting that nothing happened between Virgo and his now deceased wife and cutting off anyone who would question otherwise.

Nathaniel has an affinity for animals, collecting a number of them throughout the campaign.

===Relationships===
Nathaniel has a peculiar relationship with his commanding officer, Virgo and his deceased wife, Cecilia. In the past, Nathaniel's wife was apparently taken from him by Virgo, and Virgo had Cecilia killed. Although the three insist that nothing happened between them, there some clear awkwardness between them, something that is further exacerbated by Cecilia's inability to communicate in her Nimbus form, (at least without Nathaniel acting as a proxy). Nathaniel continually insists on his wife's loyalty regardless of the conspicuous circumstances. He also insists that he has forgiven Virgo for his transgressions and states that Cecilia has as well.

Granger enjoys hazing the newest recruit of Virgo's personal squadron, Tennis.

Due to his habit of collecting companions, Nathaniel has a number of animals on his side. He appears to be very fond of all of them.

==History==
===Background===
Nathaniel Granger grew up in a small town where he met his future wife to be, Cecilia. This small town was governed by one [[Virgo Sunsword]], who heard of the wedding festivities, and demanded from Nathaniel to have his wife. Nathaniel refused, leading Virgo to kidnap Cecilia. When Nathaniel found them, Cecilia had been murdered by Virgo. Once he resurrected her as a Nimbus cloud, both his wife and Virgo proceeded to tell Nathaniel that "Nothing Happened" before her death.

Some time has passed and Nathaniel seemingly forgave Virgo, and eventually joined the Sunswords. He rose up in the ranks quickly and became a member of Virgo's personal troops, even having his name retired in the Sunsword Army.

Virgo's squad defeated the Flesh monstrosities. After discovering that Reginald Barringster had fled the scene, they discover several receipts that implicate Reginald as being responsible for the creation of the Flesh Monstrosities and are presumed to have hunted Reginald for his treachery

==Trivia==
* Due to Nathaniel's name being retired, there can be no other Nathaniel in the Sunsword Army, legally anyways.
* Unbeknownst to Nathaniel, during their time together, [[Cecilia Granger|Cecilia]] had been an Ageless, albeit an unwilling one.
** Additionally, she previously worked as one of Virgo Sunsword's personal squadron, and was romantically involved with Virgo. This changed when Cecilia was captured (believed to have been killed) in a Ageless raid and was forced to become an Ageless herself. Years later, Virgo would Cecilia hiding off in a small town, recently married to Nathaniel. Having no other choice. Virgo had the newly wedded Cecilia killed for being Ageless, and Nathaniel would go on to bind his soul with Cecilia's cursed soul to revive her as a Nimbus.
** Despite this, Virgo and Cecilia are on good terms and appear to share no hard feelings, but have mutually agreed to never tell Nathaniel what really happened.
